Flores ligt ten oosten van Komodo en ten westen van de Alor Archipel in Indonesië. De duikplaatsen van Flores bieden uitstekend zicht, steile wanden, prachtige koralen, enorme gorgonian fans en een buitengewoon divers onderwaterleven.
Een Flores liveaboard duikcruise is de beste manier om van deze Indonesische duikbestemming te genieten. Een zeesafari naar de eilanden in de Flores Zee brengt duikers naar de beste duikplekken. Babi Island heeft een gezonde rifmuur die tot 50 meter diepte duikt. Snappers, papegaaivissen, maanvissen, waterjuffers, verschillende soorten murenen en lintalen bevolken de wand. Duikers die de wateren rond Lambata Island verkennen, ontdekken met koraal bezaaide rotsblokken en riffen met scholen fusiliers, maanvissen, papegaaivissen en dwergzeepaardjes. Zuid-Pangah Balang staat bekend om zijn indrukwekkende zachte koralen en grote lederkoralen langs een schuine wand. Wai Terang is een Japans vrachtschip uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog dat op zijn kant ligt. Harde en zachte koralen hebben talrijke kleine rifvissen aangetrokken.
Duiken op Flores kan het hele jaar door, maar veel liveaboard trips zijn beperkt tot april - juni of augustus - november. We did our check-dive close to the airport. It was surprisingly good. Water not as clear as in the national park, but great macro and other marine life.

Current is moderate to strong at some dive sites, I would compare it to diving in Maldives. There are also dive sites with little current. I understand that the current conditions vary significantly by time of month and day. Overall, I think Komodo's reputation for strong current is unwarranted. Observe the normal safety procedures and you will be fine.
