De OceanQuest Liveaboard is een 36 meter lange catamaran die het hele jaar door duikexcursies aanbiedt naar het schitterende Outer Great Barrier Reef in Australië. De OceanQuest liveaboard ligt permanent aangemeerd bij het Outer Reef en gasten worden per snelle boot vanuit Cairns overgebracht.
De OceanQuest liveaboard is in 2017 gerenoveerd en heeft 22 hutten, elk met een eigen badkamer, airconditioning en een tv. Elke hut heeft twee eenpersoonsbedden of twee eenpersoons stapelbedden. De OceanQuest liveaboard is verdeeld over 3 dekken en biedt veel ruimte om te ontspannen na een hele dag duiken. Er is een grote lounge met airconditioning, een goed gevulde bar met een entertainmentsysteem en een ruime eetzaal. De zonnedekken zijn perfect om tussen de duiken door te zonnebaden in de warme Australische zon. Het OceanQuest team verzorgt 3 maaltijden per dag, geserveerd in buffetvorm in de grote eetzaal.
Er is voor elk wat wils met de OceanQuest liveaboard, met opties voor gebrevetteerde duikers, beginnende duikers en snorkelaars. Gasten kunnen met OceanQuest talloze buitenste duiklocaties van het Groot Barrièrerif verkennen en genieten van maximaal vier duiken per dag; 3 overdag en 1 's nachts. Niet-duikende gasten zijn ook welkom aan boord.
Houd er rekening mee dat de duiken op eigen gelegenheid worden gemaakt, maar voor soloreizigers zal de bemanning u graag helpen om een duikbuddy of duikgroep aan u te koppelen. Wees gerust, er is altijd een toegewijde supervisor aan boord en een waakzame uitkijk op het dek tijdens de activiteiten in het water. Als u wilt kiezen voor een begeleide duikervaring, kunt u deze service reserveren op de dag- en nachttrips, tegen een prijs van 20 AUD per persoon per duik. In gevallen waar uw brevet of een medische aandoening duiken onder begeleiding noodzakelijk maakt, is het verplicht om deel te nemen aan duiken onder begeleiding van een gids.
OceanQuest liveaboard duikers kunnen het Groot Barrièrerif 's nachts op een nieuwe manier ervaren met Fluoro Night Diving. Deze ongelooflijke duik maakt gebruik van speciale zaklampen en maskerfilters om het rif tot leven te brengen in een reeks fluorescerende kleuren (tegen betaling). De nachtelijke Shark In The Dark-duiken bieden de kans om te springen en de haaien van het Great Barrier Reef 's nachts te zien. Walvisfans kunnen mee op een OceanQuest liveaboard 'Meet The Minke' duiksafari (beschikbaar in juni en juli).

Over the top diving on the Great Barrier Reef
Of coarse, the diving was amazing. I've been diving for 50 years and found the amount of fish, the diversity of the fish and beautiful soft and hard corral beyond what I've seen in other parts of the world. All the staff and dive masters were very familiar with the dive spots and were happy to share their knowledge of the areas and pointed out things we wouldn't have noticed. Simon from Austria was exceptional in his knowledge and enthusiasm of guiding each dive. The equipment provided was first rate and the staff was always helping when we needed help.

Must-book scuba liveaboard! See a great snapshot of GBR.
The trip was amazing from start to finish. Pick up at the hotel, coffee and muffins on the transfer boat two dives before we even got to the liveaboard, easy and smooth transfer, delicious meals and comfortable lodging on the liveaboard, different and beautiful dive sites every day.

Amazing trip!!
It was such an amazing trip. 3 nights was perfect. So many dives to do. There were 4 offered every day and I chose 3. The staff was truly amazing. So friendly and open to what I wanted. The food was fine.

Ocean Quest knows their business and executes at a high level
Ocean Quest is a well oiled machine focused on simple customer satisfaction and diving. The dive equipment was very clean and well maintained, dive briefs were thorough, hot drinks were always available, and someone even took your fins off for you before jumping back on board after a session. If you are looking for the extras like multiple food options, cocktails, massages, hot tubs, etc., then please book elsewhere.

4D-3N Liveaboard Experience on OceanQuest in Mid December 2024
Overall we have enjoyed our experience with OceanQuest. We especially appreciate the flexibility in terms of how many days we want to do our liveaboard, due primarily to their mode of operation: a smaller boat runs on a daily basis from shore to the bigger OceanQuest, which stays on the reef and moves from dive site to dive site. We had a mishap on the first day due to our not understanding the mode of operation mentioned above. The person picked us up from our hotel said to us if our luggage needs storage at their shop. Our understanding was that after the two dives that morning, we will all return to the shop to gather our luggage to be transferred to OceanQuest. We never thought about the possibility of SeaQuest would go directly to OceanQuest, and no one at the shop asked or mentioned that fact. As a result, we spent the first night on OceanQuest without our luggage including our tooth brush and everything else. The crew did respond to the situation in a highly proactive manner and brought our luggage to OceanQuest the second morning at 10:30 am. My wife and I want to mention again the super friendly and helpful crew. It made our trip a very enjoyable one. I would like to suggest to the tour operator to explain clearly the mode of operation to avoid future occurrence of our mishap.

Great experience and flexible
I really enjoyed my time onboard Ocean Quest. If I could’ve stayed an extra day I definitely would’ve! People come on and off the boat each day so it is flexible per timeframes. Yet the similar sites tend to be different dive to dive so no two dives are the same. 4 dives per day on full days and 2 dives per day on return day. Overall good value

Late November 2024 Dive Trip
Was not sure what to expect on this trip, was a large boat with approximately 40+ guests of which most were scuba diving every day. I was never in a group diving bigger than 6 people which was excellent since that would be the max I'd want to go with. The organization of the dives was particularly impressive with numerous different levels, classes and snorkeling all efficiently organized for such a large number of divers. Everything was very timely on all activities including meals and incoming/outgoing transfers on the main boat. Would definitely go with this outfit again.

Fantastic Scuba Experience
Ocean Quest is a very well managed ship. Diver’s Den is recognized in Australia as one of the top diver and dive instructor training programs. One student from Melbourne described it to me like this: “All the best dive instructors I have met got their training here.” That’s consistent with my experience too. The guides were fantastic. The food was delicious and abundant. I’m still raving about the English bacon they serve at breakfast. The boat is older but the staff is very diligent with maintenance. Every guest room includes a private bathroom with a shower too. We saw a huge variety of corals and fish and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about identifying them. I got stumped trying to identify a picture I took of a Juvenile Rock Mover Wrasse and they recognized it right away! We also saw and captured a photo of a Hammerhead Shark! The night dives were fantastic too. Diving another nearby reef off of the tender was also fun and exciting!
