The Junk is a historic liveaboard that offers a unique experience, combining the charm of a traditional wooden ship with modern comforts, while taking divers on adventures around the Similan and Surin Islands. Wonderful experience in the Similan islands
I can’t recommend enough this liveaboard: everything was greatly organized, crew extremely kind and professional, dive sites stunning and mouth watering Thai food also for vegetarian and vegans. The cruise director Brian did an excellent job in coordinating the adventure making sure we were having the best dives while ensuring the safety and fun for everyone.

Great experience
First time liveaboard. Has to say it was even better than I expected. Everyone on the boat was very friendly, the staff were helpful and had prepared everything. They claimed that they had the best food among all the boats in Thailand, which can be true. Thanks to the cute chef we had tons of yummy food in between all the dives. Dive masters are very professional and made dives quite smooth. Basically they did all the things for us so all we had to do is enjoying the trip. I do recommend the boat even though the submarine world was not so colorful due to the warm water during the low season. I believe there would be a much more beautiful world waiting to be explored during the high season.

Very well managed all the way from pick-up at aiport to drop-off after the cruise. Very friendly staff and dive guides. Excellent mix of Thai and western food (4 meals per day between each dives). 4 dives/day including 1 night dive and 2 dives on last day.

Fabulous experience on The Junk in the Similan
Fabulous first liveaboard exprience with the Junk. Dives were not geat because we cannot reach Surin islands for our best dives because of the rough sea but all the crew and staff of the boat was absolutly wonderful and considerate to make this experience wonderful. The boat despite a bit noisy is very comfortable. Very good spirit during the cruise, and nice divers.

A Great Diving Experience, Cool boat, Excellent Team
Highlights of the trip include the genuine happiness of the entire crew, along with the professionalism of the dive leaders. The Junk itself is tremendous. It was incredibly clean and well maintained and the cabins were comfortable and cool. Everything just seemed to work. The best diving was on Richelieu Rock where we saw schooling jacks, schooling barracuda, healthy soft corals, and a myriad of reef fish. Sea horses and nudibranchs were also seen on nearly every dive. The water was warm and the visibility was fantastic. The under water topography at Elephant Head site in the Similans included huge granite boulders which made for fun swim-throughs. We missed out on Mantas and Whale Sharks this trip but overall is highly recommended for experienced divers who want a stress free diving holiday.

A memorable and highly recommended diving experience
My first diving experience in Thailand. I was very happy about the whole trip and each dive. The underwater world is a sort of same but still different in each ocean. Despite my limited number of dive so far compare with those divers explored many more oceans, I did enjoy and value each dive. I could learn a lot from other divers from all over the world, happy to meet with new friends all the time. The cabin is quite small compared to other modern diving boats but considering its unique and legendary history, it's still a great experience, especially with the great enthusiasm from the whole crew, mouthwatering and authentic food provided each day (I surprisingly gained 1kg during this one week, I was expecting to loose a bit weight since diving supposed to burn more calories 😂) made this whole diving trip a memorable one . Thank you again, The Junk :)

Best Dive Trip!
I absolutely LOVED my time aboard the Junk! Great value for the money with incredible food, crew members, and facilities. Each room has an en suite bathroom with comfortable beds. There is a sun deck with very comfy seating and lots of spaces to relax. The food was the best I had throughout all of Thailand and made the diving even that much better! 100% would recommend.

Amazing boat and Crew
Let me start by saying that the Crew are absolutely amazing, very helpful with the equipment, helping me without being asked and always smiling and happy. The food was superb and varied and plentiful and a great touch was a different drink handed to you with a smile as soon as you got back into the boat from your dive.. I had the pleasure to have Chock as my dive guide and he was great !! - professional, very personable, very helpful and knowledgeable and an all round a really nice guy who clearly loves what he does. Thankyou Chock for helping me with my fins every dive and for all the videos. The cabins perhaps are not 5* luxury but it’s a dive boat with a lot of character and history and all you do is sleep in the room, so it’s still perfect.. Boat has 2 ribs that are used to pick is divers up from where we surface and take us back to the boat so minimal effort form end of dive to being back on the boat. . So I think to summarise, with such an amazing crew, you can’t go wrong and would 100% recommend a liveaboard on the Junk! 10/10.

Awesome Liveaboard Trip on The Junk!
Just got back from the most amazing liveaboard trip on The Junk, and I have to share how awesome it was! From the moment we stepped on board, we felt right at home thanks to the friendly crew who were super welcoming. Seriously, the crew was fantastic! They were always around to help with our dive gear, answer questions, and just make sure we were having the best time. Their laid-back vibe made everything feel so relaxed and enjoyable. Let’s talk about the food—wow! Every meal was a treat. We had everything from fresh seafood to local dishes, and it was all so delicious. It was the perfect way to refuel after a day of diving. Plus, sharing meals with everyone on board was a great way to bond and swap stories. Our dive guide was a rock star! Super knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the underwater world, they made sure we were all comfortable and safe while exploring. Each dive was well-planned, and the sites were absolutely stunning. The vibe on The Junk was just perfect. It was super chill and friendly, which made it easy to connect with other guests. Whether we were lounging on the deck, enjoying a drink under the stars, or diving in the beautiful waters, every moment felt special. Overall, my trip on The Junk was an unforgettable adventure filled with great service, tasty food, and an awesome atmosphere. If you’re looking for a unique experience, I can’t recommend this enough. Exceptional diving trip
When browsing several other reviews of The Junk, it seems it's all about great food on this liveaboard. Don't get me wrong, food on this board is truly exceptional and by far the best in Thailand ever - so hard to resist and impossible to skip seconds!! But nevertheless, this trip is so much more than just the great food. The boat itself is a great wooden junk-boat, with all fixtures and areas needed for a great diving trip - truly built by divers for divers. It has a great charm, with interesting history and every inch is well thought of and put into use. Safety of guests and crew is top priority throughout the trip, which allows for a peacefull and relaxing trip. As said before, this trip is not all about food, but it is about great diving, with knowledgeable and experienced divers, exceptionally friendly crew and most attentive tour guide Marco. Every smallest detail is taken care of, so that divers have the best possible experience. If this means to change the diving itinerary a little bit, then Marco and his crew will not hesitate a bit to go the extra mile in order to deliver the best diving experience under given circumstances. Of course, all other crew members from cooks to housekeeping, dinghy drivers, air-blender and the captain …. are all exceptionally friendly poeple, who truly deliver 10-stars service! I also loved the size of the boat, which can cater only a small group of guests and staff and this assures that you are not diving as a guest but rather a family and crew member! In short: truly unforgettable trip and I'll be diving with the Junk again - for sure!

Amazing week aboard The Junk! A boat with a lot of charm and a crew worthy of the name! The dives were amazing respecting safety first throughout the trip! The cabins were ok, although old but you can't expect better given the historical side of the boat! I will do it again with great pleasure! The Junk wins the prize of my liveabord!
