Good diving in northern Similan

Fantastic Liveaboard Experience at the Similan Islands
I recently went on a 5D4N liveaboard trip to the Similan Islands with Seatopia, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The accommodation onboard was comfortable and well-maintained. The food was also a highlight, which really adds to the overall experience on a liveaboard. A special mention to our dive guide, Game, who was professional, attentive, and clearly passionate about diving. He ensured that the dives were safe, enjoyable, and well-paced. The diving around the Similan Islands was fantastic, with clear waters, vibrant marine life, and well-chosen dive sites throughout the trip. Overall, I highly recommend Seatopia for anyone considering a liveaboard in this region.

Going for it again!
I’ve had the most detailed and thorough dive briefing I’ve ever experienced on a riverboard. Safety was emphasized repeatedly, and everything from photography tips to what to expect during the dive was explained in great detail. Mark made sure everyone stayed within their NDL safely. The crew is incredibly attentive—no matter how busy they are, they never forget what you say and always come back with a thoughtful response. The food was good, and there were so many young people from all over the world, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The diving deck can get a little crowded, but as long as you follow your turn and stay mindful, it all works out surprisingly well—everything is actually very well organized, so it’s not a problem at all.

This liveaboard trip was nothing short of extraordinary—hands down one of the best diving experiences of my life! From the moment we stepped on board, everything was flawlessly organized, welcoming, and professional. The crew were absolutely incredible: knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about diving and marine life. They went above and beyond every single day to make sure everyone felt safe, comfortable, and excited for each dive. The dive guides were top-tier—expert briefings, perfect site selection, and an amazing ability to spot even the smallest and rarest creatures underwater. The diving itself was simply spectacular. Crystal-clear water, pristine reefs, big pelagics, colorful macro life—every dive felt like a highlight. The variety of dive sites kept things exciting, and the schedules were perfectly balanced to maximize bottom time without ever feeling rushed or exhausting. Life on board was just as impressive. The boat was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with cozy cabins and plenty of room to relax between dives. And the food—wow! Delicious, fresh, and plentiful, with something to look forward to after every dive. What really made this trip special was the atmosphere. It felt like one big diving family by the end—great vibes, lots of laughter, and unforgettable shared experiences both above and below the surface. If you’re considering a liveaboard diving trip, stop searching—this is the one. New boat with everything you need + good food, dive crew, boat crew and diving!
This has been my third liveaboard in total and based on those experiences, I can recommend Seatopia as a liveaboard operator. The communication was clear and detailed. They created a WhatsApp-Group with all guests before and sent detailed information on the process and upcoming fees (e.g. national park, nitrox, rental equipment, customary tips, ...), so you can prepare yourself. The pick-up was smooth and the boat and dive briefings extensive, supported by pictures on a TV screen. The boat itself is almost brand new, we were trip nr. 39. I liked that all the cabins were above sea-level, which makes sleeping more peaceful for me. The shared bathrooms for the twin and bunk bed cabins are on the main deck downstairs and offer hot/warm water and soap/shampoo dispensers, which was really nice. They produce their own freshwater on board, that's really convenient. Food: I enjoyed the food very much. It was diverse throughout the trip and offered a good mix of western and classic thai dishes (Tom Yum, Tom Kha Gai, Banana Samosas, Papaya Salad, ...). There are always fresh fruits (bananas, clementines), cookies, coffee, cocoa, juice, softdrinks, milk and tea available. The only thing that needs to be paid extra is beer and capsule coffee. And they provide electrolytes and encourage you to hydrate. Before and after every dive the cooking staff would come with a tray with a small cup of hot beverages for you to hydrate, which was lovely. Diving: The boat crew was always ready to help you with your gear and analyzing the Nitrox tanks. They hang the wetsuits after every dive. My group was well matched with the skills and my dive guide Kat was friendly and spotted lots of small animals for me (ornate ghostpipe fish, seahorses, pipefish, nudibranches, ...). The dive sites in Similan were quite diverse and a mix of rocky underwater landscapes and pinnacles with pretty coral reefs, and lots of glass fish! There are fish ID books on board, so you can identify whatever you have seen underwater. The six dive groups (4 guests + dive guides) were managed well and fair and it never felt crowded on the dive deck. Every evening was also some kind of funny quiz where you could participate and win a Seatopia T-Shirt, those were quite fun and engaging. Offboarding and drop-off was smooth too. Fellow guests: Nothing the dive operator can do about, but please (if you read this as potential future fellow diver) don't go on the boat when you have a fresh cold and are coughing and sneezing around. You might save your trip, but ruin it for other people when you infect them. I guess that's about it. Happy to have chosen them!
