Learn to dive like a manta!
Although I missed more shark diving (not seeing them pass by a hook on the reef) but diving among them, I must say that the experience with the manta rays feeding was elevated to infinity and beyond, as well as new to me. I also discovered species that I had not yet seen and I loved seeing for the first time the main target of my second trip to the Maldives: The whale shark. In short, happy! We also dive, normally, in places that are not overcrowded, and that is a plus. The guides and organizers were concerned with looking for the best options for diving, without resorting to wild animal baiting techniques, which in my opinion, is not correct.

The South Tour - a highlight
The whole team on board the Aqua Queen (Spirit of Maldives) was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We felt very welcome, safe and comfortable at all times. I would like to praise the cook, Nandana, again in particular! What he conjured up for us in the small galley every day was excellent. Local, varied, fresh and always full of flavour - thank you dear Nandana!The guides successfully guided us through the dive sites and showed us the big highlights as well as the small features of the reefs.We felt safe underwater at all times, even if some dive sites had challenged us a bit, and Ana took very good care of us, even if we were more of a chaos troop - thank you Ana for a wonderful time in the Indian Ocean!Many thanks also to Lukas, who organized the whole operation on board and was also able to fulfill special requests!The southern tour kept what was promised! If you like it a little "wilder", you shouldn't miss this unique opportunity!

Superb 11 days of 'dive, eat, sleep, repeat'
I've enjoyed 'Aqua Queen' boat and the dedication and efficiency of staff; their dive sites' in depth knowledge ensuring our group got the best of every dive. I very much appreciated that our guides ensured that each of us individually saw rarely encountered species like frog and leaf fish! E.g Aru took me separately to the area and a bit later David jumped off the boat with Robert to show him the same area once he had realised that Robert missed it! Early evenings were fun; jacuzzi and wine and our guides - David, Kike and Joe played the guitars and sang. Super relaxing. Lisa was brilliant ensuring everyone was getting the most of everything..ie rejuggling and pairing dive buddies snd getting us all together not missing anything or anybody! Asanga, behind the bar and his colleague were super efficient and kind. My wine was always ready!! And our captain Mo navigated brilliantly and also showed us fisherman's abilities...and just what fish he caught!! A wonderful 11 day trip!

Amazing experience
The trip aboard the Spirit was really a great experience. The boat itself is very well equipped and maintained. The crew is courteous, warm and competent. David and Lisa really do an excellent job. But the dive guides are also worth mentioning. Incredibly good-humoured, competent and concerned about safety, without imposing any unnecessary restrictions on the guests. A nice sailing through the North Atolls of the Maldives
The trip to the north is well organized. This includes transfer, breafings as well as diving. The crew and the dive team did their best to make the trip as comfortable, intersting and memorable. The boat is quite new and you will hardly miss specifics for diving. The Dhoni crew was nice and experienced too. Tanks are always full 200bar+ and EAN is constantly at 30%. Northern Wonders: the team ( and the whale sharks!) made this a great trip
Great 10 days with too many dive- highs to mention: whale sharks , SO many mantas. Manta night dive, big stuff and small stuff! Lukas & Anna made a great team as boat managers and the crew seemed to all work seamlessly together - meaning that even with 3-4 dives a day, the transition for every dive was as easy as possible . The daily schedule worked really well, and the team managed a few curve balls (replacement dhoni) such that it had minimal impact on the trip. Chefs Nandana and Romesh provided fabulous curries and endless fresh fruits, veg dishes etc. Asanga and Johirul were always cheerful & super attentive at meal times . Adam had an enormous smile every morning when we got on and off the boat and the entire boat and dhoni crew and captains kept us safe and in/out of the water cheerfully & efficiently. Joe was our dive guide and brought his laid back Fijian vibe with him, making dives a pleasure . Aqua Queen was a really comfortable boat. The result of all of the above was that 25 dives over 9 days never felt exhausting. I would recommend and hope that we can return to do the Deep South itinerary .

Dream diving trip
I have done many liveaboards but this trip was the best ever. Everything was perfect. Hospitality and food (put on 2 kilos as the food was so so tasty)on boat was impeccable. The boat is brand new , very very spacious, cabins and bathrooms are well appointed, very clean , jacuzzi, lounge, sun beds and has all amenities which one could desire. Nitrox was complimentary. Frankly I felt as if I was on a small cruise liner. The best was the crew and dive leaders on board. Solid team of 18 including cruise directors Lisa and David. Smoothest operations which I have ever seen. Of course diving was the main highlight. The dive sites were carefully chosen to maximise sightings and comfort of all divers. It was a dream trip for any diver. Whale shark, Mantas, various species of Rays, sharks, turtles and tons of sea life. No more could have been asked for. Dive leaders were super in spotting all exotic sea life. Must thank Lisa and David for such a well organised and super safe and fun trip. Safety for everyone was top priority at all times. Loved David playing guitar every evening during happy hours. Spirit of Maldives should be must to experience in all divers list. Thanks to Team Spirit for delivering a perfect experience. Will surely be back again soon. Rocky buddy

Unforgettable diving experience
The boat was very spacious, the food very varied and delicious. The guides and crew were very friendly and helpful. Diving with manta rays, tiger sharks, bull sharks and a lot of reef sharks was just an incredible experience. The reefs in the south are not very colorful, the coral bleaching is clearly visible, but rich in schools of fish (barracuda, tuna...) and big fish. At night there were 2x whale sharks on the boat with which we could snorkel.

I had a really amazing time on the liveaboard and I'm still totally thrilled with the experiences. The dives were just fantastic and some of them really unforgettable.The crew was great! Everyone was very friendly, helpful and always in a good mood. The dive guides were very experienced and professional, so I felt safe and in good hands at all times during the dives.The food was also an absolute highlight for me – just really delicious and always more than enough. 😊The cabin was much more spacious than I expected. There was a lot of space and a large private bathroom, which is of course worth its weight in gold after several dives.There was also plenty of space to relax on the deck. The comfortable loungers and the great view were perfect to just relax between dives.All in all, it was an all-round successful liveaboard for me with great dives, a great crew, delicious food and a lot of comfort. I felt comfortable from start to finish and would do the safari again at any time. Very clear recommendation! 🤿🐠❤️

My partner and I had a great experience aboard the Spirit of Maldives. 10 days flew by, punctuated by great dives, great meals, entertaining evenings and the most professional dive conditions we have seen. Very good, love the boat people and how Anna took as to the best dive points with the safety first. The only thing that was missing was the beach party which other boat did have despite the weather.

The "Spirit of Maldives" liveaboard truly offered value for money on this Northern Atolls itinerary. The diving was exceptional, with the Mantaray encounters being a definite trip highlight. The dive guides were knowledgeable and ensured safe, memorable dives. The Services provided by the crew were generally excellent—they were friendly and attentive, making the boat experience very comfortable. While the cabins and overall boat comfort were great for a week at sea, the food and drinks could be improved to match the high standard of the diving and crew service. Fantastic diving on the northern trip
We went on the northern route in September 2025. We had some fantastic diving. There were a tonne of mantas, and lots of dives focussed on finding and watching mantas, including a great night dive with mantas. We saw the occasional reef shark during the trip then had one dive with great visibility and maybe 50 reef sharks circling us, which was awesome. We also saw whale sharks whilst snorkelling, and had a beautiful experience with a whale shark and dolphins approaching the boat at night. The dive guides and other staff were attentive and experienced. The boat is beautiful, brand new, and has great furniture and fittings. We had a great time!

From the moment we stepped on board, we were welcomed by an incredibly professional, friendly, and dedicated crew who made us feel at home throughout the entire trip. We traveled during a seasonal transition period when tropical rainstorms were frequently chasing us across the atolls. However, our captain worked true magic, always finding a route toward clearer skies and sunshine. Thanks to his expertise and local knowledge, we enjoyed spectacular diving and breathtaking scenery despite the challenging weather conditions. The diving itself was phenomenal. We were fortunate enough to encounter majestic manta rays and an impressive variety of sharks, creating memories that will stay with us forever. Every dive was thoughtfully planned, safe, and exciting. A very special thank you to Lisa and David. Your professionalism, enthusiasm, patience, and passion for the ocean made every dive even more enjoyable. We already miss you both! A special mention goes to the amazing local guide, Sull. His knowledge of the reefs, marine life, and dive sites was truly exceptional. Diving with him was an unforgettable experience, and many of our best underwater moments happened thanks to his guidance. The only thing missing from our adventure was the elusive whale shark. We had been hoping to see one, but unfortunately didn't. Our next Maldivian adventure will definitely be in pursuit of these magnificent creatures, and when we do, we will absolutely choose Spirit of Maldives again. All in all, a great experience with many highlights and diving fun!
It was a motley crew of divers of different ages, with different levels of experience and different expectations. The two cruise directors Lisa and Dave, together with the dive guides, put together very suitable groups, so that everyone could experience their highlights. In addition to very intensive encounters with reef manta rays and rays, the different underwater worlds with their flora and fauna have always resulted in interesting encounters with sharks, large, small and very small fish, etc. All in all, all around successful dives of sometimes considerable length. The varied food was very tasty and offered a lot of choice. The rooms were spacious and very well furnished and maintained. The large windows allowed a great view from the bed to the sea! With this boat and this crew and similar groups always a wonderful experience and highly recommended!

Good time on Spirit
The Spirit of Maldives (boat name Aqua Queen) is an excellent Liveaboard and about a year old. Feels like a luxury boat with it being so modern. Food was excellent, mixture of local and other cuisines, plenty to eat from the buffet style servings. Bar prices were reasonable and especially liked their happy hour (BOGOF), that helped allow guests to socialise and get to know each other as the sun sets. Dive/Boat Manager - Mike, was exceptionally experienced and knowledgeable. He handled some delicate situations extremely effectively whilst maintaining good guest relations. Weather was challenging with winds at 17-19 knts at times which led to careful consideration about dive sites. Hats off to him, he got it right every time! Dive Guides Mauz, Joe and Katie were all excellent as well. Joe even entertains in the evening with his guitar and singing (if you’re lucky!) Crew were genuinely warm and welcoming and special thanks to the Captain and Dhoni crew who navigated the Baa crossing under incredibly challenging conditions. Spirit has an operator has very good customer services, accommodating short notice changes to my travel dates and at no extra cost. As you’re on a boat, if you’re on the lower deck cabins, you may hear the engine if the boats moving, so worth bringing some ear plugs to dull the noise if you’re trying to get some sleep. Came in handy when doing an early crossing. Over all excellent, many thanks Spirit!

Modern yacht, top service - anytime again
I was a bit skeptical at first, as there have been only a few reviews so far – which is simply because the boat is still very new. I was all the more positively surprised: very modern ship, exceptionally large cabins and bathrooms, plus a super friendly team. I was particularly impressed by how flexibly and attentively individual wishes were addressed – several times. You can tell that a lot of commitment is being done here. For me, it was an all-round successful experience that I would repeat at any time.

Great experience with Spirit of Maldives
Boat is very large, and the separate dive boat (dhoni) system works very well and allows for the back of the boat not to be cluttered. Cabins are large, individual AC system, beds are comfortable. Mostly, the crew onboard is really lovely and professional, and take very good care of you. Safety is good, dive briefings were provided very well by Lukas and the team was available to answer any question. Dive sites are chosen well and adapted depending on conditions, and the daily schedule works well with appropriate time between dives for rest. Happy hour in the evening is nice too ! Overall would recommend this boat, I would be happy to return with Spirit. Many thanks to all the Crew and the Dive Guides Lukas, Ana, Sul, Joe and Kike, you really made our experience great :)

Excellent value for money
We were lucky enough to participate in the 11-day cruise in the North Maldives in mid-September 2025This trip was great in terms of the quality of the diving spots, of course! but also thanks to the incredible team on board !!The entire staff is extremely warm, helpful and friendly. Thank you to them!For the rest, we had only one "negative" point. We had booked one of the two "Main Deck Cabin Suites". The room matches the photo perfectly and the bedding is just perfect!!! On the other hand, we didn't understand that we would be at the level of the living room. So the door of the bedroom opens onto the dining room. It's not really a problem compared to the members of the group because the pace of diving and the mutual respect means that no one stayed very late to talk behind. On the other hand, early in the morning and late at night we had the sound of dishes and the installation/uninstallation of tables. Not easy for those who are light sleepers or if you decide to take a dive to rest because you will have noise. We have of course informed the crew of this small inconvenience so that it can be taken into account for the rest of the season and the remark seems to have been heard.Regarding in-flight services- JACUZZI: we did not use the jacuzzi. We spent so much time in the water that we didn't feel the need for it outside of the dives (only 2 people used it once it seems to me).- STARLINK: good quality for those who need a very good quality connection. On the other hand, only 2 objects can be attached to the code sold. Personally, I regret not having taken a SIM at the airport because in the end there was a connection throughout the stay for all those who had it and I didn't need a "pro" quality of internet. The sim is therefore cheaper and just as good.As for the boat, this one is very good. If you only have one door to your shower it seems to be normal and the case in all rooms :-). There is enough to spread things on the upper floor and we don't step on each other. The Doni is also very good. You have plenty of room to put your things without stepping on each other. Two small fresh water showers are available at the back and very useful. Towels are available not only for showers but also for dives, washed if necessary. The water in the shower is also very good: temperature and pressure.Regarding the meals, the food was very good and in sufficient quantity. It was possible to eat both rather local / Sri Lankan dishes, pasta was possible at all meals as well as potatoes in different forms. Vegetarians can therefore find their way around without any problem.Finally, to finish with the best of the stay: diving. We all have 12l aluminum tanks with a regularity on the nitrox rate between 31 and 32% verified by an instructor and not by us.The guides are all very friendly and involved in meeting our research and expectations underwater: from the most microscopic nudibranchs to schools of sharks at will.Lucas and his assistant were able to adapt the choice of our spots according to the adventures of some of them on arrival, the current conditions or the risk of crowding other divers. We come out with a head full of memories and of course some whale shark sightings!!
