The MV Raja Ampat Explorer is a fantastic budget-friendly option to explore the regions of Raja Ampat and the Banda Sea. The 33.5m M/V Raja Ampat Explorer caters to 14 guests in 7 cabins. Each double or twin cabin is en-suite with a hot shower, washbasin, and toilet and is fully air-conditioned. Social areas include an air-conditioned lounge with an entertainment system and dining seating for 14 guests. Meals are served buffet-style and are a mix of Indonesian and European dishes. A partially-covered sun deck is also a great place to relax and unwind with a beer whilst enjoying the stunning Indonesian views.
Divers can enjoy up to 3 dives a day around the incredibly diverse area of Raja Ampat or the Banda Sea on a 7 or 10-night cruise. Raja Ampat itineraries include visits to Misool, Fam, Arborek, Mansuar and depart from and return to Sorong. Banda Sea trips leave from and return to Ambon and offer something for everyone, sea snakes at Gunung Api, amazing critters in Ambon to hammerhead sharks around Banda. Onboard the dive facilities include individual gear-up stations, an onboard compressor, a dive platform with shower and camera setup, and charging stations. There are also 2 dive tenders for easy drop-off and pick-up.

Perfect!
It was an amazing experience! I have wonderful memories of it. The crew and divemasters were excellent. They helped me when I had small health problems and were always there to answer our questions. The food was excellent and the boat very comfortable. I had everything I needed and felt safe throughout the trip. The dive sites are wonderful. I have rarely dived in such an unspoilt place filled with life. The colors of the corals are beautiful. This cruise is a must do if you want to dive in Raja Ampat, it was just perfect.

10/10 experience for this solo traveler
I would 10/10 travel on the Raja Ampat Explorer again. I was a solo female traveler and had never been on a live aboard. Diego and Faldi, our dive guides, were so friendly, helpful, safety oriented and great at spotting both big things and the macros. The food was delicious. The sun deck was a perfect spot to be having both shady and sunny areas. If I am lucky enough to go back to Indonesia, I will most defiantly book with them again.

Great Experience
Even though the boat is marked as budget friendly, I have found the cabin is very comfortable. I loved the itinerary. Our DM Diego was great!

You can't go wrong with Raja Ampat Explorer
We had an amazing time. Great diving, island visit and the coffee and food is very good. Surprisingly there was free nitox and super fast Starlink internet everywhere.

Everything about this trip was wonderful. The boat isn’t a brand-new luxury yacht, but the traditional wooden style actually felt far more relaxing and perfectly suited to a diving trip like this. If you’re looking for VIP treatment and fancy frills, this may not be the right choice for you. Likewise, if you need Western staff onboard to feel comfortable. For me, though, this trip is unbeatable in terms of value for money. The local crew were exceptionally kind, professional, and discreet throughout. During some more challenging dives (for example with downward currents), the dive guides handled the situation calmly and expertly, which gave a great sense of safety and confidence. Beyond the incredible diving, there were also opportunities to visit small villages and do short hikes, which added a very nice extra dimension to the experience.

Fantastic experience at the Raja Ampat Explorer!
The service was well organized and always running on time; there were no registered issues during the trip. Comfortable spaces, I always felt safe diving, with unique diving spots. Definitely recommend!
