Highlights
Barefoot luxury is the theme behind Mikumba Dua (of lost paradise charters) liveaboard Indonesia, having undergone an extensive renovation giving a contemporary twist to this traditional wooden boutique style phinisi. Mikumba Dua boasts the largest outdoor space found on any vessel in her class, spanning over 4 decks, allowing guests to indulge in alfresco dining under the stars while sipping away at their favorite drink or perhaps getting involved in some sunrise/sunset yoga or just lounging around on beanbags with a book. The main hub of the boat is the beautiful indoor salon, which also offers dining, a cinema room, a library, board games, or simply space for relaxation. There are 2 Master cabins on the upper deck, both en-suite and with their own private balcony, with a further 3 double/twin cabins on the lower deck sharing 2 bathrooms. All cabins are spacious and individually designed, embracing traditional local materials and fabrics.
Dining generally takes place on the top deck while taking in incredible vistas; our legendary local chef will provide a selection of authentic dishes prepared daily using the freshest locally sourced ingredients and cooked with dedication and love. The Ethos onboard Mikumba Dua is to seek adventure while getting you away from the crowds and giving you world-class diving and snorkeling. Visit secret beaches and lagoons and encounter breathtaking views from jungle-covered hilltops, all of which make for a truly magical experience, “the stuff of dreams.”
The enchanting and magnificent Raja Ampat, one of the last frontiers on Earth, is the ultimate tropical paradise. Commonly regarded as the most biodiverse marine ecosystem on our planet and ultimately some of the greatest diving and snorkeling in the world, as beautiful above the surface as below, it is “truly Heaven on Earth.”
The ambiance aboard Mikumba Dua reflects the feeling that guests are extended family and perfectly combines the balance of adventure and the feeling of home. Mikumba Dua is also available for private hire; the date of the charter, length of trip, locations, and activities can all be tailored to your needs.

Amazing Live a Board Komodo islands on the Mikumba Dua
Our first time LiveAboard and it was amazing. From the moment we met the crew we had a great time. The boat was perfect. In perfect condition and the crew made sure it was like that during the entire trip. Everything was so well arranged. The crew did everything in such a way that it was professional and relaxed at the same time. We quickly made new friends and enjoyed the 5 days to the max. We went to amazing sites for diving. Guided by 2 skilled dive masters. The dingy-drivers did a great job. The cooks made us amazing meals 3 times a day. The captain made sure it was smooth sailing everytime. Compliments to all the crewmembers. We would recomend the Mikumba Dua to everybody who would want to do a Live a board. If this is your first time or if you have done this before this will be an amazing trip. We stayed in the mastercabin and that was like staying in a 5 star floating hotel room. We would really recommend that, but if it is just for sleeping and your suitcase the other rooms are also great. Hope to come again Maribel and Martijn from Belanda (The Netherlands)

Wonderful experience
Loved our time on Mikumba Dua. Very comfortable boat with lots of places to lounge about in-between dives. Good itinerary mix of diving and non-diving activities, and crew were very happy to accommodate non-divers with snorkelling, paddle board or kayak options. Diving was well-organized and felt safe. Food was brilliant, lots of fresh fruit, salads and vegetables at every meal and vegetarians were well-catered for, with alternate and varied protein options at each meal. Crew were super friendly and really looked after you. My only suggestion would to add some coke zero's to the soft drink fridge.

Fantastic Crew! They're the Champs
Firstly, the awesome crews from helpers, guide, best cook, captain to big boss: Damian. Secondly, the booze sunset cruise directed by Damian and lastly all the dives. I'd like to highlight how amazingly organized the trips are (from pick up till drop off). Kudos to the team!

Awesome liveaboard in Raja Ampat
I recommend going with Mikumba Dua for (at least) the following reasons : 1. Outstanding Service The crew is exceptionally attentive to your requests and does everything possible to meet them. From the very first interaction, they made us feel comfortable. They remained kind and professional throughout the entire trip. They even managed to find, on very short notice and being in the middle of nowhere, the necessary ingredients to prepare two tasty birthday cakes. Having Willy as my dive guide was particularly enjoyable - he was both highly competent and a genuinely great person. The owner's son (from the UK) was also on board to ensure everything ran smoothly, which added an extra level of care. 2. Food The food was plentiful and of excellent quality, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Fresh fruits like mango and dragon fruit made the meals even more enjoyable. It’s impressive that they managed to provide such high-quality meals on a boat for an entire week in such a remote location as Raja Ampat. 3. Diving Experience Ultimately, the main reason for this trip is to have unforgettable dives, and Mikumba Dua delivered. While the marine life you encounter depends on luck and seasons, we completed 18 dives in 6 days - several (if not most) of which were truly memorable. For small-fish lovers, each dive offers a chance to spot a lot of little creatures. The biodiversity is so intense that there were three heavy volumes of a book dedicated to Indonesian marine species on board. As for larger marine life, during our dives, we encountered: - At least two giant turtles and several smaller ones - Blacktip and whitetip sharks - One Napoleon - Plenty of barracudas and bumphead parrotfishes - And quite a lot of other species One of the highlights was the "Blue Magic" dive site, where four oceanic manta rays gracefully swam in front of us for a full hour - an awesome experience, even for the most seasoned divers among us. Beyond diving, while cruising, we were lucky enough to spot whales, dolphins, and flying fishes on multiple occasions. Compared to other world-class diving destinations like the Maldives, I’d say the main difference is the abundance and health of corals in Raja Ampat. For coral enthusiasts, Melissa’s Garden is a site that should be hard to match anywhere else. According to what I’ve read, 75% of the world’s coral species can be found in Raja Ampat. Its remoteness helps protect them, alongside conservation efforts by organizations like the UN. Let’s hope that they will remain in good condition for years to come. That said, reaching Raja Ampat requires significant effort: - A flight to Jakarta or Bali - Another flight to Sorong (where, to be honest, there isn’t much to do) - A two-hour ferry ride to reach the liveaboard It’s something to consider when planning your trip, based on your time, energy, and travel preferences. But once you arrive, you’ll have made it to a place few people have ever been. Most Westerners don’t even know it exists. 4. Land Activities Beyond diving, we explored: - The beautiful and tiny Mioskon Island - Two village atolls - The Piaynemo Geosite, with its breathtaking panoramic view from the top - A watersports day, with options like skurfing and paddleboarding I personally chose kayaking through the mangroves, which turned out to be an underrated gem. The stunning scenery, unexpected wildlife encounters, and the sounds of tropical birds made it a truly great experience. 5. Comfort & Atmosphere The beds were surprisingly comfortable, which is important when you’re doing three dives a day and need proper rest. There was enough relaxation areas on both the lower and upper decks, with sufficient space for all guests to enjoy the views. The number of guests on board (10), split into two dive teams, is just what is needed - manageable for the two divemasters while facilitating interactions among guests. Of course, getting along with everyone is never guaranteed, but

One of our best liveaboard trips
We really enjoyed our time on the Mikumba Dua. Because we were a small group, it felt more like a family (some of the captains family were on board for the trip!). The crew and the captain were really friendly and knowledgeable about the dive sites. The food and service was great. The dive masters respected your diving experience and treated you accordingly. Fantastic trip.
