Launched in 2014, the 22m sailing Phinisi Kira Kira is a fantastic budget-friendly option for exploring the diverse region of Komodo National Park & Raja Ampat. Hand-crafted over 2 years, the Kira Kira liveaboard was built with stability, comfort, and safety in mind. She can travel up to 1000 nautical miles and is highly economical and environmentally friendly. Kira Kira Indonesia caters to a maximum of 8 passengers in 4 cabins, ensuring a more personalized service on board and perfect for friends, families, or individuals who would like to join others on the trip.

Consisting of 2 twin cabins and 2 double cabins below the main deck, these 4 cabins feature large beds and are naturally ventilated. There are 2 bathrooms on board. The bathroom facilities are shared and equipped with modern appliances and household toilets rather than marine toilets. All cabins have storage space and wardrobes for bags and dive gear and ample room for clothes, personal belongings, laptops, cameras, and gadgets.

For relaxation, guests can choose to lounge on the sun deck or open-air lounge with stunning sunset views, read a book, enjoy a cold beer, or pick up some cooking tips from the onboard chef. Simply perfect dive trip with Kira Kira

KiraKira is the best Liveaboard around
Komodo is without question one of the best dive areas in the world. The amount and variety of fish is amazing! For your own sake and that of your fellow divers, dont do a liveaboard until you are comfortable with boat diving, drift diving, and buoyancy. But once you are, Komodo is a must. Diving in an aquarium with warm water. The corals are so varied in shape, type form and colour, it is breathtakingly beautiful. Snorkelling is amazing (sometimes better than diving). The KiraKira is the best Boat for people who do not want to dive staccato 4 times a day but want to enjoy the diving without hectic and stress. Dive sites are well chosen, always with regards to currents and local conditions. Safety first. If the dive site seems "crowded" we rather moved to a different spot and came back to that one later. You still get to see all the main things on the list such as Mantas and turtles and sharks and Nemo fish. The crew are local and well connected. Amazingly friendly. They sing and play guitar, joke around and make this trip truly enjoyable. The owners, two Brits, are far-travelled and have plenty of stories to tell, if asked. The chef is amazing! Thanks to her, think I gained 3 kg on the trip.

Wonderful ! 5 guests, 6 crew members plus 2 dive guides. Wow :-) Dive guide selected sites and time, and drop off point for each dive perfectly. This is extremely important for complex drift dives or sites like both of the Rocks (crystal and castle). Discuss and agree your own preferences at the beginning of the safari. For example, if you are a group of experienced divers who prefer excellent drifts, then just ask. Our group was kind of mixed, and we had good drifts, one night dive, and then two dives South. And we were extremely lucky to see Mantas at some unusual places (eg not at the Manta cleaning stations). Plus for two evenings two Mantas were flying around our boat. Yahoo! Of course, I can not guarantee that you will be as lucky as we were :-p

Brilliant experience aboard the Kira Kira
What a fantastic dive trip! Everything about it was amazing - from the incredible diving (perfect conditions, insane marine life) to the delicious food (so many options as a vegetarian) and the friendly nature and cultural immersion with the local crew and guides (making me so welcome and comfy as a solo traveller), the trip was easy, relaxing, full of wonder, and so much fun!

An amazing experience for a really good price
This was my first liveaboard trip and one of the best trips I've ever done in my life. The guides and the crew really made it special for me. The atmosphere on the boat is so friendly and welcoming, everyone is really nice and you just feel like you're apart of the family for a week. And of course, the diving in Komodo is absolutely amazing.

Global experience for adventure-hungry divers
A magnificent diving experience to discover the Komodo archipelago. Divers organized in small groups (4 or 5) according to their experience and technique, with exceptional local guides, who guarantee enjoyment, knowledge of the place and safety in each dive. Magnificent service on board, extreme kindness of the entire crew and special mention to the wonderful cook, who introduced us to the Indonesian gastronomy at each meal (meat, fish, vegetables, rice, sweets...).The accommodation is somewhat spartan (small double rooms with two shared bathrooms for the whole crew) and there is no air conditioning, so they can be quite hot (and noisy in the processes of refilling the air bottles).

Our 10-day liveaboard safari with Kira Kira in Raja Ampat was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. From the moment we stepped on board, we received the warmest welcome – it immediately felt like being part of a small family. We were a group of nine people (ages ranging from 34 to 68), with one person staying in a single cabin. The group dynamic was fantastic, and we harmonized extremely well throughout the entire trip. Our two divemasters, Marsi and Charles, guided us professionally and confidently through the spectacular underwater world of Misool and Raja Ampat. They were attentive and supportive at all times. Even when one member of our group felt a bit nervous about diving at the beginning, they made sure everyone felt safe, comfortable, and well cared for. The boat was very well and functional equipped, and we were treated to excellent, varied meals every day. The entire crew was highly professional, organized, and incredibly helpful in every situation. Everyone clearly knew their role, and everything ran smoothly while still maintaining a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Underwater, the trip exceeded all expectations: stunning coral reefs, manta rays, reef sharks, and even dolphins. Every single dive was a highlight. There is a second boat operated by the same organization called Akomo Liveaboard. From what we understood, the atmosphere there seemed slightly younger and a bit more party-oriented. On our trip, the focus was clearly on diving, meaningful conversations, great food, and simply sharing an amazing time together. We highly recommend this liveaboard experience – the perfect combination of professionalism, warmth, and world-class diving.

There is a deduction in the rating due to the toilet and shower situation; no possibility of a short fresh water shower after diving, except in the evening. Bath towel was never changed for 11 days

It was an incredible trip with Kira Kira.

A Great Crew, Fantastic Boat, Great Sights, Even Better Price
This is my second liveaboard for scuba diving. I booked through Liveaboard.com several months in advance. The booking process was quite smooth, to a degree (more on that in a moment). When I was looking for liveaboards in Indonesia, I had rough date range, price, and things I wanted to see. The Kira Kira had exactly what I wanted. The photos of the boat are accurate (and it looks even better in person). The itinerary hit all the points. I was all set. There is a document to fill out once your booking is accepted. The main issue that happened was I hadn't been told by the booking agency exactly what time and where to meet the crew! Luckily it was sorted in the end (as I had my phone on roaming and they called me while I was in the taxi in Labuan Bajo), but Liveaboard.com was pretty bad (that should be read as non-existent) at responding to emails leading up to the trip. Let's chat more about the Kira Kira. During times of strong currents and wake from other boats, she was super steady. The designer/builder was truly a craftsman and took great pride in his work. The intricate details will amaze you. The views were stunning! With a speed boat in tow, they can get anywhere around the islands as needed. Your advanced certification will come in handy, as you enter the water from the speed boat, dive in drifts constantly (it's a strong ocean after all), and see some amazing species up close and personal. You won't be disappointed at all. I had zero complaints about the food, except that I wanted them to cook for me after I had left the boat! The chefs have some incredible recipes. With their Indonesian heritage and knowledge of Western cooking, they can create some delectable dishes that will leave you wanting more. Be sure to try the coconut spread. I had to purchase some jars of it to take home because it was that good. The other crew do a fantastic job of ensuring the Kira Kira is operated safely. Paul (the owner) and Alex (the dive master) are great lads and do the very best to take care of you. They know these areas inside and out. Alex goes over the dive in depth before each dive (and be prepared to be impressed at his whiteboard drawing skills). Together, and with the crew, they do an amazing job of scouting out the areas, understanding the currents and weather patterns, and adjusting the dive schedule so that you get the most out of your diving experience. Being flexible with the schedule is a must! Things change, so go with the flow, and you will come away with a great experience, if you catch my drift. Overall, this is a ship, crew, and group who know what they are doing. They are masters at their craft and will make sure you have an amazing liveaboard and diving trip. The cost is super-effective, and don't be fooled into thinking you would be getting a substandard product. You won't. Enjoy the experience, and, as they say, Kira Kira.

Amazing experience with Kira Kira
This was my first Liveaboard and it really exceeded my expectations! The diving was absolutely incredible and the dive guides, Engel and Yetno, were some of the best guides I’ve ever had. Also the food onboard was just INCREDIBLE - best food I’ve eaten in Indonesia. The whole vibe on the boat was so lovely and warm and in the end we all were just one big boat family, and it was bittersweet to say goodbye. I would definitely recommend Kira Kira and hope to join them next again for Raja Ampat.

it‘s really hard to pick out some highlights cause every dive was EPIC! that was the word we used after almost every dive! we came on the boat and wished for finding some cool stuff under water, a nice crew and a comfy bed.. Well, our expectations have been exceeded. Thank you Clare & Fandi soo much for everything. Your experience, your jokes, your smiles, your information & the wonderful drawings of the divesites. ;-) A huge thank you also to the rest of the crew who did there best to make our stay so perfect. And last but not least, the food was amazing! I‘m still impressed how they managed to cook all that yummi food in the kitchen on the boat :-) we'll definitely come back! see you guys in raja ampat :-)

Great Trip!
We had a great time on the kira. Kira! This was my husband's first live aboard, we were a little concerned that there would be two shared bathrooms and no AC for him. But it actually was not a problem at all. There is a great bean bag area up top with good shade and in the cabin the two little fans and the open hatch overhead really work well at night. I was amazed at all the really good food The cook was able to turn out of that little kitchen, even fresh baked bread. The crew took care of everything with our gear after every dive. Our dive guides Yetno and Akri were fantastic and so knowledgeable. They found the tiniest little things to show us. The boat is so beautiful and well taken care of. It has a very casual feel and more intimate with only eight guests. The dive sites were amazing!

We had a wonderful week of diving, made new friends and gained 5 pounds.
The food on the boat was amazing after almost 3 months in Indonesia the absolute best local food we have had. The open space on the boat was very comfortable with bean bags on the deck and plenty of space in the galley. It was easy to get to your dive gear as everything was spread out well. Our small group felt like family at the end of the trip... and experience we have never gotten on a larger liveaboard. The diving was plentiful and well organized.

Fantastic Trip
We had an absolutely amazing time on board the Kira Kira. Clare and Fandi really made the trip, always felt safe and enjoyed every minute. Best holiday we’ve ever had. Epic Adventure in Komodo
Kira Kira just was dry docked renovated in May of 2025. Amazing 20 dives in Komodo mix with a few off shore excursions. The food was amazing. Amazing guest and crew, the budget friendly self-selects great people. But be ready for room- temperature showers and no-ac rooms. They do have small fans installed in the rooms. I had issues with mine. I highly recommend if youre seeking adventure without hotel comfort, and want some really good hearty food.

Awesome cruise!
Superb cruise to Rajah Ampat aboard the Kira Kira. Everything was perfect, the proposed itinerary allowed us to discover the best spots in the center and the south (Misool). The extra activities were also very good. Between 2 and 3 dives per day, not too much, not too little. Special mention to the barbecue on the beach to end the stay in style. We appreciated being only 8 divers on the boat, it allowed us to create bonds and the atmosphere on the boat was great. The food was excellent and varied throughout the stay. The cabins and sleeping accommodations are rustic but this did not impact our overall experience. This cruise will remain the best moment of our 2 month trip to India.

The whole trip was perfect. The cozyness of the boat, the absolutely 5-star cooking, the light atmosphere all the time on the deck, qhere the whole crew was always laughing and having a great time, the people that came along on the trip... The diving was amazing, great current (and great experience with it!!), and the sunsets nd sunrises over the sea... Couldn't have wished for a better crew, boat, people, or vacation in general... Another great sailing on the Kira Kira
It was our second time on the Kira Kira, we previously dove Komodo, much of the crew remained the same. The crew is the standout of this boat. They are absolutely amazing!!! The diving in Raja is unmatched I think and we saw some of the best of it with the trip to Misool. The food was very good and there was always plenty for everyone. It is a budget boat so the accommodations and the showers reflect that. I love the small group and just as on our first trip we left with new friends. If you don’t mind roughing it a bit and you are ok with no A/C you will be happy in your choice.

We had a wonderful week in Komodo aboard the Kira Kira.
We loved to wake up every morning in the middle of the sea and go for an early dive to start the day. We spent a lot of time lying on the top deck to relax. The ambience on the boat was really nice and friendly. We highly recommand this cruise!!

Alex and Clare were the perfect diving instructors. Very careful about security, they have a great knowledge concerning the Komodo marine park, diving spots, currents and will adapt to your diving level. The boat crew is composed with 6 indonesian boys, allo of them very benevolent, smiling and funny! The food was amazing and fits to carnivorus as well as vegetarian and vegan people! No need to specify that the dives were awsome ;)

Diving in paradise
Thank you so much to the amazing crew on Kira Kira - all the Indonesian crew were amazing - from the captain to the cooks to the dive guide Hans! A once in a life time experience diving with these guys in Komodo national park. They truly strive to make your experience a good one; making sure to dive where there aren't crowds, pointing out the rarest of sea creatures and to find the things you want to see. All whilst cooking amazing authentic Indonesian meals every few hours between dives. They also make time for short trips to the Komodo islands for insane sunsets and a chance to see a Komodo dragon with your own eyes. Honestly the warmth we received from the crew made the experience a forever treasured memory of mine. Hans, our dive guide prioritised safety, each dive briefing explaining the things that would ensure the safest and rewarding dive. He even managed to squeeze in a night dive at our request which was awesome; octopus, cuttle fish, frog fish, and so much more, active and hunting at night. And of course manta ray during our day dives! So magical. I unfortunately lost my GoPro during this trip, and the staff went to all lengths to help me look for it. Even though we didn't find it, I can honestly say that I still loved the trip and felt very much cared for at each step. The rooms were sufficient, complete with an actual hand painted painting hanging on the wall. The cabins had 3 little fans that helped keep you cool at night. Its not fancy but it has all the things to build an incredible, memorable diving trip if you are passionate about diving into the natural abundance that is Komodo National Marine reserve. Great boat, great crew, great experiences - 100% recommendation
The liveaboard with Kira Kira was unforgettable! Starting with the guests and the shared conversations and experiences, to the crew, who were anxious at every second to offer us a great time. Overall, we had a consistently positive atmosphere on board. The boat itself is 1:1 as described. It is very well maintained and maintained. The dive sites, especially around Misol, were great, although the corals around Waigeo are unfortunately severely affected by climate change. Nevertheless, we could admire various shark rays, huge schools of fish and manta rays. We were 8 guests on board, 6 of them Scuba Divers divided into 2 Dive Masters. Yetno and Marci guided us through their underwater home with top equipment and a lot of experience. The tour was rounded off with a joint beach BBQ on the last evening and made the trip an all-round highlight! Highly recommended!
