Beautiful diving on a lovely boat!
Terrific boat and crew. Great safety practices and a wonderful onboard culture. This is a great mid-level experience....very comfortable....not the highest end luxury, but good value and good diving. I was both energized by amazing diving and relaxed by a very solid on-board experience. I would definitely dive with Makumba again....looking forward to their new boat in early 2027!

Amazing experience
Dives sites were great, dive guides and instructors were amazing and very friendly, thank you @Salla, Abda and Hans! Very friendly environment for snorkels too! Excursions were perfect and we got to see some incredible places and views. Food was always very tasty and different, I wonder how the chef managed to cook so well in a tiny kitchen and limited ingredients. The rest of the crew was so nice too, all very friendly, always ready to help and to have a chat with. We even got the opportunity to watch them sing and playing instruments. So in the end the trip was great if not perfect. Nothing to complain about but on the contrary it felt like every little detail was carefully thought to give to all the guests the best experience possible. Every day is packed with lots of activities for a quite schedule but there’s always a bit of time to chill and just enjoy the sceneries passing by. Highly recommended trip! Thanks Mikumba Diving team!

Come for the mantas, stay for the people
This was my first liveaboard and my first time diving in the region. Don't get me wrong—the tête-à-têtes with mantas, nighttime sleuthing for blue-ringed octopi and rainbow nudibranchs, and surging through currents with ALL the fish—was incredible. 10/10. But what I was truly blown away by was the people powering the Jelajahi Laut, especially the rare mix of top-quality organization, attentiveness, experience, warmth, energy, knowledge-sharing, humor, and family-style experience. I’ve been on numerous guided field trips and led a two-week field course. These guides are so damn good—they are a cut above the rest. Eric and Camille, the two lead guides, were so many things at the same time, some of them you'd think would be at odds. How can someone be entirely dependable yet relentlessly goofy? These two were responsible, communicative, organized, and able to offer critical advice to relative newbies while also engaging divers with hundreds of dives under their belts. When I had issues with my ear, Eric gave me specific pointers that enabled me to completely fix the problem and enjoy the rest of my dives. Camille also went out of her way to check on me and gave me some special medication that made things so much better. These guides consistently went above and beyond to make sure I was OK, and always engaged me and instructed me when I asked for it. Eric is an INCREDIBLE teacher, with funny and helpful analogies and so much positive reinforcing energy. I would do any liveaboard that Eric and Camille are leading, and I cannot imagine this operation with anyone else at the helm. They are an incredible team, and I’m grateful to have met and learned from them. Across the whole crew of 17, I felt safe from the moment I stepped onboard. Super clear briefings. Assistance with preparing and porting equipment and tanks. They really go out of their way to take care of you. And the food—super tasty and super diverse (which I hear is not always the case on dive boats). The guides were extremely responsible and pointed out some of the rare or hard-to-see species (shoutout Hanzo!). That kind of assuredness, through clear and thorough communication, laid the foundation for what ultimately became a super fun and silly group that bonded through group meals, karaoke nights, posing with Komodo dragons, fake drink sponsorship commercials, group birthday parties, and sunset hikes with beautiful views. The schedule was intense—18 dives over 6 days—but the tight ship also allowed for sufficient downtime, and we got into a rhythm. And of course, the places we were diving made it so worth it. Healthy reefs, incredible diversity of fish and invertebrates, and charismatic species from majestic mantas and reef sharks to pygmy seahorses and giant frogfishes. We had a healthy diversity of dives, including 3 night dives, a handful of drift dives, and ~3 manta-focused dives. Even though this place is becoming increasingly frequented by divers and there are more and more boats, I was still BLOWN AWAY by the sea life here. You’ll see plenty of boats during the trip, but apart from 1 or 2 of the dives, our group never ran into other groups underwater. If total remoteness is what you seek, this place is not for you. Also, if you’re into the 5-star luxury experience, other boats will be a better fit. But I was super comfortable—and honestly, I’d even prefer this to some white glove experience. Pretty soon into this trip, we felt like a family. It was a super homey boat with amazing food, excellent service, and a stellar vibe. If you are considering a liveaboard in Komodo—choose this one. You will not regret it. You’ll learn a lot, make new connections, and take in the wonders with amazing people.

New boat with amazing boat crew
7/8nights Raja Ampat Central/North. The boat is relatively new with an amazing boat crew (very courteous, also up for a chat, playing cards or chess). The common areas are very functional and fit perfectly for resting, dive briefings and eating. The dive deck has a spacious setup. Diving dinghies are in good shape. Dive guides come from Sulawesi and have very good eyes to spot critters. This was my second trip to Raja and I was surprised to see stunning muck sites (which this boat/crew probably tend to cater more than others, out of 23 dives, 5 were night/muck) and lots of special critters (e.g. wonderpus, flamboyant cuttlefish, blue ringed octopus).

A trip to remember
The 8 days in Raja Ampat exceeded all my expectations. Every dive site was unique and full of life, with an incredible variety of things to see. The dive guides were excellent – very professional and incredibly good at spotting species we would never have noticed ourselves. Safety was clearly a priority throughout the trip. Our guide Hanzo took great care of my group in every situation. The entire boat crew was fantastic – truly a diamond team. The boat was clean and comfortable, and the staff made us feel welcome from the very first moment. The atmosphere on board was relaxed, happy, and full of positive energy, and the music performances were an absolute highlight. The food was delicious, plentiful, and beautifully prepared and served. Overall, an amazing liveaboard experience that I would highly recommend to any diver visiting Raja Ampat.

Beautiful dive sites . Great schedules of the dives and activities. Amazing local crew. For the food, the chef did its best with a lot of options ; it did not fully match our taste and we once were sick due to food but I know that the other divers were very pleased with the food . The Cruise directors were also good and did their best ; I would have appreciated that my dive guide shows more calm during the dives sometimes but overall a great experience.

Incredible experience and so worth the expense
I would 100% book again. The diving was incredible but the staff were what made the trip so memorable. Eric and Camille provided the perfect balance. Eric created a wonderful energy to every day. Whether it was his music in the morning or before a dive, or his enthusiasm in running the boat. Camille provided the reassuring calm that enabled one to feel like everything had been thought of. The staff throughout were exceptional. The diving spoke for itself. Whether it was an intense, current infused dive or a tranquil drift over vibrant coral… there was something to please every diver at every level.

Amazing diving! Top notch crew and dive guides, plenty of food, comfortable cabins, lots of space on the boat for relaxing. Safety was the top priority with a briefing for the boat on day one and dive briefings before each dive. Accommodates up to 14 guests, which was the perfect sizer for me. Chef prepared great meals with a bounty at each sitting! Eric and Camie are top notch cruise directors and the staff was warm, welcoming, and great to hang out with.

Unforgettable trip
We had a wonderful 10 days on the Jelajahi Laut! The whole crew around Camille and Eric gave everything to offer us an unforgettable trip in Raja Ampat. Eric's briefings before each dive were designed so that every diver knew exactly what to expect and that helped a lot, especially on some drift dives, which were quite challenging. Also, the protection of the reef is pointed out again and again and that you should not touch or break anything. We thought that was very good. They have carefully selected the dive sites and tried their best to avoid diving with other boats as much as possible. The diving groups consisted of a maximum of 4 people per guide, which was a reason for us to book this boat. In general, there is room for a maximum of 12 guests on the boat and we had a great group! Our Seaviewcabin was lovely, the view of the small islets from the bed was wonderful. Since it is a wooden boat, it sometimes dripped in a bit during heavy rain, but that didn't bother us. :) One afternoon, Matt, a naturalist, came on board to tell us more about sharks and manta rays, which was very exciting. We also liked the shore excursions, the aperitif on the beach and the trip to Jellyfish Lake very much. Everything was always prepared with love and cold drinks were always included.We can recommend the Jelajahi Laut to anyone who is looking for a family atmosphere, good security and fine food and attaches importance to taking care of our underwater world. Many thanks to Cam & Eric, Arisman, Saldi & Basir, Jamal & Dasir, Burhan & Kipli, Ramli & Romi, Elim & David and Kris & Dani. We would love to come back.

It starts out like checking into a 5 star hotel. The transports are timely, cruise directors are at the meeting site to greet everyone. Boarding the ship was very welcoming, every crew member introduced themselves. The diving was EPIC. Jelajahi Laut is a class act.

Fantastic Liveaboard with outstanding staff
Incredible coral and sea life, dives were not only beautiful but diverse with a night dive and some exciting current dives. We dove with our children for the first time and the lead dive guide was able to make us all comfortable and safe. From hotel pick-up to drop-off, everything was perfectly organized in a friendly atmosphere. The staff is very attentive and always very smiling, the chef, incredible, prepares delicious, varied and hearty meals.The dive guides are very efficient in finding beautiful things, thank you Hans for the octopuses!! Briefing at the top.The cruise directors are great, accommodating and helpful; we always equip ourselves with music. Thank you Eric for the playlist.Wonderful stay, thank you to the whole team!

Wonderful 6 day trip to Komodo
Mikumba was my first liveaboard diving experience, and I could not have asked for anything more on the 6-day trip in Komodo. Every single one of the crew did a fantastic job with a smile. The boat was new and a good size, I booked the standard cabin which was basic but clean, the food was varied and delicious, the group of divers were great, the dive guides were attentive, helpful, and friendly, and cruise directors Eric and Cami worked non-stop both behind the scenes and centre stage to deliver a smooth and fun experience on the boat, in the water, and on the land-based outings. One memorable experience was to witness the presentation of Pocari Sweat on Komodo's "Pride Rock" equivalent to the Circle Of Life. The diving itself was brilliant. It had been a while since my last dive, so the team offered a refresher during the first dive. The crew were always on hand to help with the gear. And under water, the amount of marine life was wonderful, and the encounters ranged from manta rays, turtles and sharks, to a myriad of micro stuff. I wholeheartedly recommend Mikumba. Thank you for a fantastic liveaboard experience!
