With a special touch that other liveboards don't have

I spent 12 days at the Calico Jack and everything was excellent. The boat is well maintained, the diving teams are in good condition and the staff who are a very good group of people are always very attentive, they are super organized and very cool."J" the course director, is passionate about marine life and at the end of each day he generates a space to share photos of the dives and identify the marine life that each one saw. I detail this because it really gives it a special touch that is not common to see in other liveboards

At the end of each day "J" the course director completes his logbook and invites everyone to participate, generating a very interesting exchange of photos and recognition of sighted species. The crew is an excellent group and they make a very good team, this is reflected in the excellent service they give. The boat and equipment is well maintained.

Liveaboard of a life time.

The Calico jack is a skillfully handcrafted and stylishly fitted out timber vessel. The rooms, though compact, are very comfortable with twin fans and air-conditioning. If you are very tall, you will quickly learn to bow your head! The carved vaulted ceilings give the feeling of space and there is a small wardrobe, hooks and underbed draws for your gear. Charging shelf and storage behind your pillows, for all your small bits and pieces. A midcharter change of all bedlinen, beach and bath towels was very appreciated. The ensuite is tiny but perfectly doable. It has everything you need. At least you won't slip over in the shower, or fall off the toilet, while underway, the walls will catch you. The communal lounge/meals area is vast. It is where you will take all your meals, dive briefings and relax in your spare time. Spacious enough to separate from the other guests for some alone time. A sun deck up top with bean bags and lounges, is a great way to finish the day with a beer, wine or cocktail in hand. The bar is fully stocked. The diving is amazing, varied and will challenge your skillset. You will leave a better diver than before you came. We saw Manta Rays on 6 out of the first 8 dives in Misool. The coral and marine diversity is the best I've experienced in 37 years of diving. We always felt safe with the dive guides. Their site knowledge and ability to spot even the most camouflaged smallest marine life was incredible. The dive deck is well designed, each guest received their own timber gear box. The crew are magnificent, they take care of all your equipment. You only have to suit up, mask and or camera in hand and they will help you onto the boats in a daisy chain of strong hands. Your gear is waiting, fully set up, fins ready beside it. In reverse, you just take your mask/ camera gear rinse your suit, rinse yourself on the dive deck and go and relax. The food was so much better than I was expecting. The chef and sous chef, are very talented. After just a few days, the crew will know your coffee or tea order, and prepare it the minute you surface for the day. There were always several choices on the table and we never repeated a meal. Cooked breakfasts, family style lunches, homemade snacks in the afternoon ,three course dinners every night. You will not be hungry. The beach BBQ was a truly beautiful experience. The crew went to so much trouble. Lounges, low tables, fairy lights and lanterns. Under a vast starry sky they sang and played guitar. Jay is a very dedicated cruise director, marine biologist and dive guide. His dive briefings are as informative as they are hilarious. Italian by birth, he is very animated in his delivery waving his arms around as he demonstrates the underwater signals for each creature. I laughed every time. Detailed diagrams of each site, what to expect, safety information and expected marine life. I learnt more about biology on this trip than ever before. He even gave up his own down time to review logbook entries and discuss the days sightings. Jay is passionate about protecting the reefs and firm with anyone carelessly damaging it or its inhabitants. You will be matched with divers of a similar skill set and moved around under the watchful eye of jay, if necessary. 'Calico Jack' is my fourth liveaboard and easily the best. They run a very safe, professional comfortable and exciting dive charter. You will not be disappointed, these are incredible memories you'll have forever, save up and go.
