Highlights
Bajak is a newly renovated boat that evokes a pirate-like atmosphere while offering modern comforts for 14 guests. The living space consists of 4 air-conditioned cabins: 1 master cabin with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom, and 3 shared cabins with 4 bunk beds and 2 shared bathrooms. Made mostly from ironwood and teakwood salvaged from decommissioned boats, the Bajak operates as a liveaboard boat in the beautiful setting of the Komodo National Park and offers access to one of the richest marine environments in the world, including stunning coral reefs, seagrass beds, seamounts, pinnacles, dramatic walls, overhangs, semi-enclosed bays, and Komodo Dragons.
The exterior features a spacious, shaded deck ideal for dive preparation, as well as an unshaded rooftop equipped with comfortable bean bags and sun mattresses, perfect for tanning and relaxation. The dining table is set right in the open galley. Additionally, there is a furnished, undercover space perfect for relaxing and staying cool.
The itineraries can be set to meet everyone’s picture of a perfect holiday. Complementary to diving are surfing, sailing, and stand-up paddleboarding. Guided walks on the local islands are also possible, offering opportunities to see the Komodo dragon. Komodo offers some of the best diving in the world, with dive sites such as Manta Point, Batu Balong, and Batu Tiga. The reserve is teeming with diversity. Dugongs, manta rays, white-tip reef sharks, and hawksbill turtles are just a few residents. There is also the option to do your advanced diving course on-site.

Simple but great
The boat and the facilities are not high-end, for example no Nitrox onboard, which is reflected in the relatively moderate price of the trip. Most customers were young, and the atmosphere on the trip was lively - imagine a nice, floating youth hostel. Food is quite simple, but the cook was brilliant and made really tasty meals. I especially liked his deep fried stuff. We were lucky to have Coco as our dive guide. He was a brilliant instructor for my wife who struggled a bit with buoyancy control.

This was one of the best trips I’ve ever done and I didn’t expect to love it so much
So amazing! I would recommend Bajak to anyone and loved the dive sites, the enthusiasm and professionalism of the crew. The briefings they gave were great and I felt safe and informed. The itinerary was organized and well explained. And the food was the best food during our entire time in Indonesia

Best Liveaboard Experience – Scuba Republic Komodo
Just returned from a 4-day liveaboard with Scuba Republic, and I can honestly say it was the best liveaboard I’ve ever been on. From start to finish, everything was smooth, safe, and incredibly well-organized. The crew was exceptional — warm, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. You really feel like you’re in good hands from the moment you step on board. A huge shoutout to my dive guide Engel, who made every dive feel safe, exciting, and special. His knowledge of the dive sites and marine life was impressive — we saw tons of sharks, manta rays, stunning coral gardens, and so much more. The itinerary was perfectly planned, with a great mix of adrenaline-filled dives and relaxed reef exploration. Every dive felt like a highlight. The dive equipment was in excellent condition and perfectly prepared for every single dive — something I really appreciated. The boat was clean, comfortable, with delicious food and plenty of space to relax between dives. 👉 If you’re looking for a liveaboard in Komodo, this is the one to book. It’s simply the best. I’m already dreaming of my next trip with Scuba Republic!

The Bajak and Scuba Republic are forever in my heart!
Incredible experience on the Bajak. The crew and dive guides were all fantastic. I felt safe while also having a ton of fun through every part of the journey. Boat: There was a little boat/motor trouble on the first day but the crew was able to resolve it and we were still able to get all of our dives in. We were very well fed with a variety of food. The tempeh dishes were especially impressive, even for a non-vegetarian. We always had access to hot tea and coffee. The master bedroom was a special treat for us. We had our own room with private toilet/sink/shower, and a balcony connected to the room on the back of the boat. The bathroom was pleasantly warm for a post-dive shower. The bedroom had a dedicated AC unit. The Bajak's motor was very loud in this area so definitely have earplugs handy for when the boat repositions through the night. Bajak holds up to 14 guests. We had the full 14 and it was a great group of people. The bigger boats with larger capacities that we saw while on the Bajak seemed cramped and less personal. 14 seemed just right. Diving: Of course the marine life in this area is unmatched. Large and small. I especially loved the mantis shrimps, manta rays, octopi, and sea horses. The currents on some of these dives were crazy! In the best way. I barely had 20 dives under my belt before this trip so the currents were a major challenge for me in my first day. But the guides did such a great job at keeping me feeling safe and supported. By the end of the trip, I felt much more confident and comfortable. Because it had been over a year since my last dive, and my lack of overall diving experience, I was required to do a refresher before the trip. I'm very glad I did. Our first dive on Bajak was an easy 'check dive' but even our check dive was full of marine life that I was so excited to see. My refresher allowed me to practice all of the not-so-fun things (mask drills, weight drop, air sharing, buoyancy control). A fresh set of skills is essential for this trip to keep everyone safe and to have fun. Hikes: I probably should've done more research on the Komodo Island hike. It was very cool to see the Komodo dragons and get pictures with them, but it felt more like a theme park walk than a hike. There were a lot of tourists groups there and we were all herded around to where a Komodo dragon would be lounging. Seeing how many tourists there are, I'm glad they do it this way, as to keep people safe and to respect the animals' space and habitat. The other hike we did was on Padar Island, an iconic photo op for sunset. Again, a LOT of tourists here. Bring shoes for this hike, not flip flops (we had a couple people break their flip flops/foot thongs on this one). Excellent views and it felt great to get some movement on land. Overall, I would highly recommend the Bajak and particularly Scuba Republic. They made for an unforgettable holiday and I'll cherish the memories forever.

I will do it again in the future
It was a fantastic experience. 14 people is ideal for solo travellers. The staff were super friendly, they took us to the best spots and they made everything so much fun! The atmosphere is ideal, you can socialise but you can also find quiet spots on the boat. Also, the boat is bigger than what it seems online.

Incredible value, fab diving, helpful crew, lovely boat, tasty food....
This trip surpassed my expectations in every way. I was a little worried to book it as it was such a good price, but I trusted the reviews and I am so beyond pleased that I did. The boat is lovely, it felt like home from the moment we stepped aboard. It is very cute and cosy, but also didn't feel at all cramped, even though my trip was full. There were plenty of places to chill out and either chat, read or just look out to sea and admire the beautiful scenery. The bunk bed was super comfy and felt like I had plenty of room. The diving in Komodo was amazing, I did Raja Ampat last year and would say these dives were more fun and more diverse (maybe slightly less pretty coral formations) The Manta action was out of this world and my dive guide, Robbie, was fab. In fact all the guides were absolutely great. The food was the best I have had on a liveaboard, catering really well to veggies and vegans. All the food was tasty and plentiful. I really cannot say enough good things about this trip and fully intend to come back one day and do it all again!

Great dive spots and fantastic crew!
I had a great time on the Bajak liveaboard with the Scuba Republic crew! The dives were amazing - we saw manta on three different dives, and the marine life and reefs were some of the best I've seen, with really good visibility. The dive guides were fantastic - they made sure we had a lot of fun, whilst also checking in to ensure we were confident on some of the more challenging dives. Thank you to our dive guide Yunus and the full team on Bajak - I'd definitely recommend this trip for anyone wanting to explore Komodo!
