Nice surprise and some ummm...
It was a nice surprise that after boarded we found out that this is Poseidon se7ven rebreather affiliated diving trip, so 10 or 11 out of 18 divers (out 28 diver cabin capacity) are tech divers or to-be tech divers, including one Poseidon technician. Great diving experience I've ever run into in my ~20 liveaboards (range from 7000+ dives to hundreds... two are dive shop owners). So wonderful, interesting people, great company throughout the trip. Can't claim my dive experience comparing to above lot, but a decent one with liveaboards across different parts of oceans. So food, okish; crews are friendly, but some are a bit green working on dive boat - I lost one fin during one entering into the water, with the current no luck to find it back; this is due to buckle was not tightened by the helping crew (of course I should've paid more attention, but with all gear on...missed); some are position oriented "find someone, I'm an engineer" or technician was a response when I was trying to hand over my dive suits in the haste of running back to the cabin post a chilly* dive. But overall boat crew are nice and friendly, and I'm grateful. With the Red Sea 16 incidents in last 5 years, we did see the difference - we were asked to do fire/exit drill, shown equipment etc., very first time for me. However, 2 dive guides for 18 divers, is not a lot - granted this trip differs from others, all solid experienced divers, but dive guides did not come out to every single dive, including night dives, which is a bit ummm... to be fair, those dive sites are easy ones, like you can't get lost (if you do, surface, you'd see the boat). No biggy for this bunch of divers, some went down every single dive. What I thought a bit annoying is, dive guide asked multiple times for the dives that dive guides not going- do you want me to go, i can. This is an unfair strategy, putting such question to divers. But don't get me wrong, still great trip (my 5th or 6th trip to Egypt), I enjoyed every bit of surreal white sandy bottom, the amazing wrecks and the beautiful corals in the Red Sea.

I had a fabulous week. It is the third year I have returned to the Sea Serpent Grand. Best dive boat on the Red Sea. Food excellent, safely of a high standard, crew and dive guides are very friendly.

Best food on the Red Sea
With decades of experience this was the best food served on a liveaboard. Oven baked whole fish, duck and turkey and outstanding soft shelled crabs. Sadly the diving has deteriorated greatly, coral bleaching, trash and garbage and frightful overcrowding.

Great Experience
Dive, eat, sleep - repeat... The boat was in good condition, the cabin was clean, the crew were very accommodating and the various meals throughout the day tasted fantastic. The dive briefings were fine, although some dives were executed slightly differently. The experienced guides made the diving fun and the sharks sweetened our safety stops.
