The trip of a lifetime!

Review of the Coral I & Galápagos Island Cruise – July 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently returned from a once-in-a-lifetime cruise through the Galápagos Islands aboard the Coral I, and I can say without hesitation that the experience exceeded every expectation. From the moment we boarded the yacht at Baltra, the staff made us feel like we were on a private expedition rather than a tourist cruise. The Coral I is a mid-sized vessel—large enough for comfort and safety, but small enough to access the more intimate corners of the archipelago and allow for personalized attention. Our guide, Hernan, was nothing short of extraordinary. His encyclopedic knowledge of Galápagos wildlife, ecosystems, and Darwinian history brought every hike and snorkel session to life. He shared it all with humor, energy, and passion, making even the most scientifically complex topics feel accessible and fun. Accommodations & Meals: The cabins were thoughtfully designed—cozy but efficient—with comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and daily housekeeping that kept everything fresh. Meals were a highlight, with fresh Ecuadorian flavors, tropical fruits, and international favorites. Dining was casual but elegant, and sunset dinners on deck were magical. Itinerary Highlights: Each day brought unforgettable wildlife encounters. We hiked among land and marine iguanas, watched blue-footed boobies perform their mating dances, and marveled at frigate birds with their red throat pouches inflated like balloons. On North Seymour Island, I learned the difference between the great and magnificent frigate birds—something I never expected to retain, but Hernan made it impossible to forget. We snorkeled with sea lions who playfully swam alongside us, and even braved the waters to swim with white-tipped reef sharks—no cage required! A particular thrill was seeing the waved albatross in its natural habitat, including its awkward but endearing courtship ritual. Giant tortoises lumbered slowly through the highlands of Santa Cruz, and everywhere we turned, Sally Lightfoot crabs and lava lizards darted across the rocks. Every moment felt like walking through a live-action wildlife documentary. Environmental Stewardship: The Galápagos National Park rules are strict—and rightly so. Visits are only permitted with licensed guides, and group sizes are limited to preserve the fragile ecosystems. We appreciated and respected these guidelines, and the Coral I operated in full alignment with conservation principles. Final Thoughts: This was more than a vacation—it was an immersive education in ecology, evolution, and our responsibility as travelers. The Coral I struck a perfect balance between adventure, comfort, and sustainability. If you’re considering a Galápagos cruise, don’t hesitate. Choose a smaller vessel like the Coral I, find yourself a naturalist like Hernan, and prepare to be changed.

Wonderful place to visit to see amazing wildlife on a beautiful and comfortable ship.

We loved every bit of this trip. The knowledgeable guides made it wonderful. We didn't know what to expect, and everything we did exceeded our expectations. The crew and guides were very helpful and respectful. We would love to return. Highlights for us were all the wildlife we experienced living their best lives, and we are so happy that they are protected.

Magical islands

The Galapagos are magical, and our snorkeling guide was great at finding penguins, sharks and other cool creatures to swim with.
